Focus EAP has introduced a new Stress Risk Assessment Service specifically designed to assist HR and health & safety professionals to combat stress in the workplace. The on-line and paper based stress survey tool is based on the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) recommendations of 47 questions under six headings; Demand, Control, Support, Relationships, Roles and Change.
The aim is to provide a snapshot of staff views at a specific time and to gather information on areas such as; Operational and Organisational Stress factors, Departmental ‘Hot spots’, incidence of Bullying or Harassment, views on the Working Environment and any other significant patterns within the workplace.
Our service includes:
§ Pre-audit consultation
§ Standard or customised questionnaire (customised meaning that company specific demographic questions can be added along with the organisation’s logo) delivered electronically or in hard copy
§ Survey management, including data entry, analysis and trend identification
§ Management report and recommendations for action
§ Presentation of results
§ Post- survey consulting by telephone
The final report will identify areas of stress in the organisation (according to groupings made in the demographic questions), and will include recommendations and suggestions for benchmarking and monitoring stress levels.
The HSE estimates that an average of 29 working days is lost through each case of stress-related ill health, and the condition leads to high staff turnover and poor work performance. Employers therefore not only have a legal duty of care obligation to take action but it is also in their interests to do so.
