Affiliate Network
Focus EAP has a network of affiliate counsellors across the UK. We are committed to developing this network with affiliates skilled in the principles of EAP and workplace counselling.
Recruitment Criteria, Training & Qualifications
Applicants must either:
Be a chartered clinical or counselling psychologist or hold the BPS diploma in counselling/clinical psychology.
Or
Be accredited by the BACP, UKRC or UKCP or have undertaken a total of 450 hours of Counselling Training, comprising 200 hours of skills development and 250 hours of theory and have had at least 450 hours of supervised counselling practice over a 3-year period, also to have undertaken 40 hours of personal therapy.
CRB Enhanced Clearance
All affiliates requesting to join Focus EAP Ltd. must have an enhanced level of clearance from the Criminal Record Bureau. Please note that you can apply for the enhanced clearance through Focus but you will have to pay the associated costs.
Professional Infrastructure
Applicants must:
Have consulting rooms either at home or elsewhere which are set aside for the purpose and which are easily accessible, private and comfortably appointed to standards consistent with business requirements.
Typically have a job or operate on a freelance basis with other private clients. (Focus EAP Ltd does not guarantee a particular level of work. Even where we have contracts in a given area we cannot predict the level of uptake of counselling by employees).
Belong to a professional organisation appropriate to their training and background (BACP, UKCP, BPS, BASW) and recognised in the counselling or therapy fields. Membership of such organisations is encouraged and implies adherence to their code of ethics and practice.
Have an agreed formal arrangement for counselling supervision of a minimum of one and a half hours per month (confirmed by the supervisor).
Have a satisfactory reference from their supervisor.
Be personally insured to cover their counselling work through Public Liability, including treatment risk and Professional Indemnity to the value of £500,000 minimum, but preferably to the value of £100,000.00 million.
